Burdwan University was established in the year 1989 to cater the vital need for improving the status of the teacher as well as to inculcate dynamism in higher education system by providing opportunities for professional and career advancement as proposed in the National Policy on Education, 1986 (NPE). The main objectives of the ASC are to enable the newly appointed teacher to understand the signaficance of education in linkage between education and economic and socio-cultural development and thirdly to acquire and improve basic skills of teaching keeping abrest with the development in subject.
